When working to get healthier, there are a lot of things to take into account. This course of self help can take a lot in terms of motivation, but the end goal should spur you on. With smaller goals in place, you can feel a sense of achievement when you surpass them. If you want to be able to bench 200 pounds, take time to congratulate yourself at the fifty, 100, and 150 pound marker.

Don’t feel embarrassed by not achieving your goal yet; think of fitness as fluid, ongoing thing. For instance, the minute you are able to bench your target amount of weight, or get down to a certain pants size, you probably aren’t going to let it all go and return to a couch potato lifestyle!

One thing that setting goals will definitely help you do is keep in mind that everything is an ongoing process, and that as you continue, fine tuning and adjustment is often needed. Don’t be afraid to change your goals, but make sure that they always keep you moving forward!
